Inverter-Battery communication cable Pytes
Without this cable the battery and the inverter do not talk to each other. It transmits the state of charge and the battery limits; RJ45-RJ45, 3.5 m on the Pytes V5 B2I version.
Connects two panel strings in parallel, ready assembled, without crimping. It withstands 1500 V and 60 A, is IP68 sealed and is installed by simply plugging in.
The Y splitter is a small part, in the shape of the letter Y, that joins two panel cables into a single one. It has three terminals: two into which the two strings enter and one from which the common route leaves. This version, with female contacts, covers only one of the two polarities; for the other the complementary variant is used, and the two together form the complete connection. It is supplied ready assembled, so nothing has to be cut, stripped or crimped during installation.
In practice, the part allows you to connect two panel strings to the same inverter input when the voltage of one string has already reached the limit and the only way to add more power is to increase the current. It is generously sized precisely because the summed current passes through it: 60 A on the European standard, compared with the much lower current of a single string. It stays outdoors without problems, being IP65/IP68 sealed (1 m, 1 h) when mated, and when unmated the contacts remain protected against touch. It works between -40 and +85 degrees C, so it covers both the winter frost and the roof heated in summer. The installation is done by an electrician, with the photovoltaic installation de-energised, and the cable and the fuse downstream of the branch are chosen for the sum of the currents of the two strings.
The technical design reference is the Staubli PV-AZB4-EVO 2-UR (32.0196) and PV-AZS4-EVO 2-UR (32.0197) assembly: 1500 V DC both on IEC 62852 and on UL 6703, rated current 60 A (IEC) / 50 A (UL), limited in practice by the mating connector, test voltage 8 kV, rated impulse voltage 16 kV, contact resistance below 0.5 mOhm. Tinned copper contacts, polyamide (PA) insulation with UL94-V0 flammability class, protection class II, IP65/IP68 (1 m, 1 h) mated and IP2X unmated, ambient temperature -40...+85 degrees C with an upper limit of 115 degrees C, maximum operating altitude 5000 m. TUV Rheinland certifications to IEC 62852:2014/AMD1:2020 and UL 6703. Plug-and-play installation, without crimping and without a torque wrench; unmating is done with the dedicated PV-MS-PLS/2 or PV-MS-MC4-EVO tool.
Suitable for residential or off-grid installations with two identical panel strings that must be brought to the same inverter input, without a string box.

Series-level specifications — valid for the product family
The MC4-Evo 2 Y splitter is a branch connector with three terminals, used for connecting two MC4 or MC4-Evo 2 plugs in parallel on the same polarity. It is installed in a pair with the complementary (male) variant, the two forming the paralleling node for two strings. The technical reference for this type of product is the Staubli PV-AZB4-EVO 2-UR (code 32.0196) and PV-AZS4-EVO 2-UR (code 32.0197) assembly.
The electrical data are significantly higher than for an ordinary cable connector, because the summed current passes through the branch: rated voltage 1500 V DC both on IEC 62852 and on UL 6703, rated current 60 A on IEC and 50 A on UL, limited in practice by the connector it mates with. The test voltage is 8 kV, and the rated impulse voltage 16 kV. The contact resistance is below 0.5 mOhm.
In construction, the contacts are of tinned copper, the insulation of polyamide (PA) with UL94-V0 flammability class, and the protection class is II. The protection degree is IP65/IP68 (1 m, 1 h) when mated and IP2X when unmated, so the contacts remain protected against touch even when the branch is not connected. The ambient temperature range is -40...+85 degrees C, the upper limit temperature 115 degrees C, and the maximum operating altitude 5000 m. The reference certifications are TUV Rheinland to IEC 62852:2014/AMD1:2020 and UL 6703.
The installation is plug-and-play: it requires no crimping, pliers or torque wrench, the product being supplied ready assembled. Unmating is done with the dedicated tool (PV-MS-PLS/2 or PV-MS-MC4-EVO), and the installation must be carried out only by an electrician, with the photovoltaic system de-energised. When sizing, the cable and the downstream protection are calculated for the sum of the currents of the two strings.
