Inverter-Battery communication cable Pytes
Without this cable the battery and the inverter do not talk to each other. It transmits the state of charge and the battery limits; RJ45-RJ45, 3.5 m on the Pytes V5 B2I version.
The plug that seals the links between the panels and the inverter and cannot be undone by mistake: MC4-Evo 2 female, 1500 V DC, IP68 once coupled, unlocking only with a tool.
It is the part that is fitted at the end of the solar cable and which makes the detachable link between the panels, the extension cables and the inverter. It comes in a pair: a female half and a male half, which join with a click. Once coupled, the two form a sealed link, which keeps out water and dust, and which cannot be pulled back by hand - a special key is needed to undo it. It is the detail that keeps the installation safe: a loose link in a direct current circuit heats up and can produce an electric arc.
It is fitted onto the cable by crimping, that is by mechanically tightening the contact onto the copper wires with a dedicated plier, followed by tightening the gland with two mounting keys - without these tools, the declared sealing is not guaranteed. Once coupled the assembly has an IP68 protection rating, that is it withstands immersion in water at 1 metre for one hour, so it copes without problems with rain and with snow melting on the roof. The temperature range goes from -40 °C up to +85 °C, and the materials resist ultraviolet and ammonia, which makes it usable including on farms and livestock halls. The current it can carry depends on the thickness of the cable: indicatively 32 A at 2.5 mm², 42 A at 4 mm² and 47 A at 6 mm². The basic rule at installation: only connectors of the same type and the same brand are joined.
MC4-Evo 2 connector in the female version, cable coupler with socket type contact (Staubli coding PV-KBT4-EVO 2). Rated voltage 1500 V DC on both the TUV and the UL certification, rated impulse voltage 16 kV. TUV rated current: about 32 A at 2.5 mm², 42 A at 4 mm², 47 A at 6 mm², and the construction variants for large sections reach about 69 A at 10 mm². Ambient temperature -40...+85 °C (TUV), respectively -40...+90 °C (UL), upper limit temperature 115 °C; IP68 (1 m, 1 h) in the coupled state. MULTILAM lamella contact, with a low and stable contact resistance over thousands of thermal cycles; locking system according to IEC 62852, with uncoupling only with a tool.
Suitable for anyone who builds or repairs the direct current side of a photovoltaic installation: for making extension cables, terminating panel strings and replacing damaged connectors, provided that the crimping plier and the mounting keys are available.

The MC4-Evo 2 connector in the female version (coupling plug with socket type contact, coding PV-KBT4-EVO 2 at Staubli) is the detachable joining element for the direct current side of photovoltaic installations. It is fitted on the end of the solar cable by crimping with the dedicated plier and tightening the gland, forming together with the male counterpart a sealed and mechanically locked link.
The rated voltage is 1500 V DC on both the TUV and the UL certification, with a rated impulse voltage of 16 kV. The rated current depends on the cable section: approximately 32 A at 2.5 mm2, 42 A at 4 mm2 and 47 A at 6 mm2 in the TUV certification, and the construction variants for large sections reach up to about 69 A at 10 mm2. The ambient temperature range is -40...+85 °C (TUV), respectively -40...+90 °C (UL), with an upper limit temperature of 115 °C.
The protection rating in the coupled state is IP68 (1 m, 1 h), and the housing materials are resistant to UV and to ammonia, which makes the connector usable in agricultural environments and on exposed roofs. The electrical contact is achieved through the MULTILAM lamella contact technology, which keeps a low and stable contact resistance over thousands of thermal cycles. The locking system complies with the IEC 62852 requirement of uncoupling only with a tool, so that the connection cannot be undone accidentally under load.
The set is used together with the male connectors for making string extensions, the links between panels and the inputs into the inverter. Correct installation requires a compatible crimping plier and two mounting keys for tightening the gland; the joints are made only between connectors of the same type and the same brand, according to IEC 62852.
