Inverter-Battery communication cable Pytes
Without this cable the battery and the inverter do not talk to each other. It transmits the state of charge and the battery limits; RJ45-RJ45, 3.5 m on the Pytes V5 B2I version.
The cable that links the panels to each other and to the inverter and stays for years on end in sun, rain and frost: 6 mm², type H1Z2Z2-K, 1.5 kV DC, 500 m drum, red for the plus pole.
This is the cable made specially for the direct current side of a photovoltaic installation, i.e. for the run between the panels and the inverter. Unlike an ordinary installation cable, it stays mounted outdoors, directly on the roof structure, where it takes sun, rain, frost and sudden temperature changes for decades. That is why it has its copper wires covered with a layer of tin, which protects them from oxidation, and a special sheath that does not degrade in the sun. The red colour is the convention for the plus pole, so that it can be seen at a glance what connects what.
The 6 mm² cross-section is used on long runs or with higher currents, where 4 mm² would lead to too great a voltage drop along the way, i.e. to energy wasted in the cable. It withstands a conductor temperature of 90 °C in normal operation, and in a short-circuit fault it resists 250 °C for a maximum of 5 seconds; in the cold it goes down to -40 °C, in fixed and protected installations. Being resistant to ultraviolet light and ozone, it can be laid outdoors, on the mounting structure, without an additional protective conduit. The conductor is flexible, so it can be routed easily among the panels and around bends. The 500 m drum is the site format: it is cut to exact length for each string of panels, which means fewer joints along the run and less material left unused than with small coils.
Single-core cable 6 mm², standardised type H1Z2Z2-K according to EN 50618 / IEC 62930. Conductor of tinned electrolytic copper, class 5 (flexible) according to EN 60228; insulation and sheath of halogen-free cross-linked elastomer (LSZH). Rated voltage 1.5/1.5 (1.8) kV in direct current and 1/1 kV in alternating current, so it covers both strings at 1000 V and those at 1500 V DC. Maximum conductor temperature 90 °C in continuous operation (120 °C for 20,000 h), 250 °C maximum 5 s during a short circuit, minimum service temperature -40 °C in fixed and protected installations; resistance to UV and ozone according to EN 50618 / IEC 62930.
Suitable for installers and for medium and large projects, with many strings of panels or with long runs to the inverter, where material is bought once and cut to length on site.

Generic product — standard specifications
Single-core solar cable of 6 mm2 supplied on a 500 m drum, made to the standardised type H1Z2Z2-K (EN 50618 / IEC 62930), the cable type required for the direct current side of photovoltaic installations. The conductor is of tinned electrolytic copper, class 5 (flexible) according to EN 60228, and the tinning protects the wires against oxidation over the long service life and in humidity.
The insulation and the sheath are of halogen-free cross-linked elastomer (LSZH), a material that withstands the maximum conductor temperature of 90 °C in continuous operation and 250 °C for a maximum of 5 seconds in case of a short circuit. The minimum service temperature in fixed and protected installations is -40 °C. The construction is resistant to UV radiation and to ozone, according to the requirements of EN 50618, which allows laying outdoors, on the mounting structure, without an additional protective conduit.
The rated voltage is 1.5/1.5 (1.8) kV in direct current and 1/1 kV in alternating current, covering panel strings at 1000 V and 1500 V DC. The 6 mm2 cross-section is used for long strings or higher currents, where 4 mm2 would produce too great a voltage drop. The red colour conventionally marks the positive pole, for quick identification at commissioning and during later interventions.
The 500 m drum is the site format: it allows cutting to length for each string, reduces material waste compared with small coils and lowers the number of joints along the run.
