Inverter-Battery communication cable Pytes
Without this cable the battery and the inverter do not talk to each other. It transmits the state of charge and the battery limits; RJ45-RJ45, 3.5 m on the Pytes V5 B2I version.
The red cable marks the plus pole and carries the current from the panels to the inverter. 4 mm², 1.5 kV DC, UV resistant, from -40 °C to 90 °C, TUV and AENOR certified.
It is the wire through which the current produced by the panels reaches the inverter. The red version is used by convention for the plus (positive) pole, exactly as on a battery the plus is marked in red, so that anyone opening the installation years later immediately knows which wire they are touching. Unlike an ordinary household electrical cable, this one stays outdoors for decades, in sun, rain and frost, so it has insulation of a special rubber, not of plain plastic.
The 4 mm² cross-section covers the usual wiring of the panel strings on a house. It withstands 90 °C continuously on the conductor and goes down to -40 °C, so it copes both with a roof baking in summer and with the frost of mountain areas. The insulation does not degrade in the sun, and the cable can pass through places where water collects, because it is rated resistant to immersion and even to submersion. In a fire it does not propagate the flame and does not release halogenated gases, and the smoke stays transparent enough (light transmittance above 60%) not to block visibility. It is terminated with MC4 connectors crimped for 4 mm² and is usually bought in a pair with the black version, for the minus.
TOPSOLAR PV H1Z2Z2-K, conductor of tinned electrolytic copper class 5 (flexible) according to EN 60228, insulation and sheath of halogen-free cross-linked rubber. Specifications confirmed from the manufacturer's datasheet
The red version of the TOPSOLAR PV H1Z2Z2-K photovoltaic cable of 4 mm2, conventionally used for the positive pole of the panel strings. The construction is identical to that of the black version: conductor of tinned electrolytic copper, class 5 (flexible) according to EN 60228, with insulation and sheath of halogen-free cross-linked rubber.
The product is TUV Rheinland certified according to EN 50618 and AENOR according to IEC 62930, with a rated voltage of 1.5/1.5 (1.8) kV DC and 1/1 kV AC. The maximum conductor temperature is 90 °C in continuous operation, respectively 120 °C cumulated over 20,000 hours, and on short circuit it withstands 250 °C for a maximum of 5 seconds. The minimum service temperature in fixed and protected installations is -40 °C.
The sheath material resists UV radiation and ozone according to EN 50618 and IEC 62930, AD7+ immersion and AD8 submersion, mineral oils, greases and chemical agents, with medium severity impact resistance (AG2). The CPR classification is Cca-s1b, d2, a1, with flame non-propagation according to EN 60332-1-2, smoke with light transmittance above 60% and the absence of halogenated gases. The minimum bending radius is 4 times the outer diameter for cables up to 8 mm.
Using the red-black pair from the same cable type ensures quick identification of the polarity on site and during later interventions, with identical electrical and ageing characteristics on both polarities. Termination is done with MC4 connectors crimped appropriately for the 4 mm2 cross-section.
