Description

This is the three-phase variant of the concept: a box that permanently monitors the grid and, at the first interruption, separates the house from the grid and supplies it from the inverter and the battery. Three-phase means the connection with three live conductors, used by large houses and small commercial spaces, which have loads that cannot run on a single phase. The LUNA2000 battery in the kit is the actual reserve: it gathers the surplus produced by the panels and gives it back when the grid is missing or when grid energy is expensive.

Switching takes place in under 20 milliseconds with the SUN2000-MAP0 inverters, that is faster than a blink, so that computers and sensitive equipment do not stop; with the M1 and MB0 series inverters switching takes under 100 ms, and the backup supply remains single-phase. The box accepts 63 A from the grid, as much as an ordinary connection has, and can coordinate at the same time up to 3 inverters connected in parallel, 2 chargers for electric cars and 14 heat pumps. The 5 kWh reserve, fully usable, with 2.5 kW continuous power and 3.5 kW peak for 10 seconds, is sized for keeping the essential loads running, and the capacity can later be increased to 10 or 15 kWh. The equipment weighs 17 kg, takes up 490 x 600 x 170 mm on the wall and is cooled by natural convection, so without a fan and without noise.

SmartGuard-63A-T0: 380/400/415 V (respectively 220/230/240 V per phase), 63 A from and to the grid, 60 A from and to the inverter, 63 A to the backed-up loads and 63 A to the non-backed-up ones; switching under 20 ms with SUN2000-MAP0 and under 100 ms with M1/MB0, effective three-phase backup only in combination with MAP0. IP55, -25...+50 °C, humidity 5-95% non-condensing, natural convection, 490 x 600 x 170 mm, 17 kg, with support for low-voltage ride-through. LAN/WAN 10/100 Mbps communication, WLAN 802.11 b/g/n in AP mode and two RS485 interfaces at 9600/19200/115200 bps, up to 50 m. The LUNA2000-5-S0 storage: LUNA2000-5KW-C0 power module plus one LUNA2000-5-E0 module with LiFePO4 cells, 5 kWh at 100% DoD, 2.5 kW / 3.5 kW (10 s), IP66, -20...+55 °C.

Who it suits

Suitable for a house or a small commercial space with a three-phase connection and a Huawei SUN2000-MAP0 inverter, which needs continuity on all three phases and a starting reserve, expandable later on.

Terms explained

  • Three-phase: Connection with three live conductors, required by large houses and by companies that have machinery or pumps which cannot run on a single phase.
  • Switching time (20 ms): How long the transfer from grid to battery takes at a power cut; 20 milliseconds means one fiftieth of a second, too little for appliances to notice the interruption.
  • RS485: A type of communication cable between devices, through which the inverter, the battery and the meter exchange data over distances of tens of metres.

Technical details

Series-level specifications — valid for the product family

SmartGuard-63A-T0 is the three-phase variant of the Huawei backup box, with rated voltage 380 / 400 / 415 V (respectively 220 / 230 / 240 V per phase). The maximum currents are 63 A from and to the grid, 60 A from and to the inverter, 63 A to the backup loads and 63 A to the non-backup ones. The switching time is under 20 ms with SUN2000-MAP0 inverters and under 100 ms with the M1 and MB0 series; actual three-phase backup is possible only in combination with SUN2000-MAP0 inverters, the M1 and MB0 series providing single-phase backup.

The unit measures 490 x 600 x 170 mm and 17 kg, protection rating IP55, natural convection cooling and an operating range of -25...+50 °C, at 5-95% humidity non-condensing. Communication includes LAN/WAN 10/100 Mbps, WLAN 802.11 b/g/n in AP mode and two RS485 interfaces (9600 / 19200 / 115200 bps, up to 50 m). It can manage up to 3 inverters in parallel (MAP0) or a single inverter (M1/MB0), up to 2 smart chargers and up to 14 heat pumps. It also supports low-voltage ride-through.

The storage part is LUNA2000-5-S0, made up of the LUNA2000-5KW-C0 power module and a LUNA2000-5-E0 battery module with LiFePO4 cells: 5 kWh usable at 100% depth of discharge, 2.5 kW maximum power and 3.5 kW peak for 10 seconds, IP66, -20...+55 °C. The capacity can later be increased to 10 or 15 kWh by adding modules to the same stack.
