This is a large battery for the home, designed to cover the evening and night consumption of a whole house, not just a few circuits. It works on the same principle as a tank: it fills during the day from the panels' surplus or, if you wish, from the grid during cheap hours, and empties when energy costs more or when the grid is missing.
