Kit Huawei SMARTGUARD-63A-S0 + Acumulator LUNA2000-5KW-S0

The kit solves two things at once: it keeps energy for later and, when the grid is interrupted, it switches the house automatically onto this reserve. SmartGuard is a kind of automatic switch installed between the electrical grid and the home installation: it senses the outage and changes the source so fast that the lights do not even flicker and the appliances do not reset. The LUNA2000 battery is the actual reservoir, which fills up from the photovoltaic panels during the day and empties in the evening or during a power cut.

The battery makes 5 kWh usable available, that is all the stored energy, without a part locked inside as a reserve. The continuous power of 2.5 kW covers the fridge, the lighting, the router, the TV and the boiler at the same time, and the peak of 3.5 kW for 10 seconds takes up the starting of motor appliances, which demand high current at start-up. As a guideline, if during an outage you leave on only the essential loads, about 500 W in total, the 5 kWh mean approximately 10 hours of operation. The SmartGuard box is sized for 63 A, as much as an ordinary single-phase house connection, so the backup covers the whole home, not just a few separately wired circuits. The battery assembly is 600 mm high and can later be grown up to 15 kWh, if the needs change.

The kit combines two components from the Huawei ecosystem. SmartGuard-63A-S0 is the whole-home backup box for a single-phase grid (220/230/240 V), sized for a current of up to 63 A. When the grid fails it performs the automatic disconnection from the grid and switches the installation onto supply from the inverter and the battery, with a fast switching time, below the threshold at which most household appliances reset. The EMMA smart meter is already integrated, and the SmartAssistant function allows scheduling and prioritising the loads, so that, as the battery discharges, the non-essential loads are disconnected automatically.

The unit has protection rating IP55 and works between -25 and +50 °C, so it can also be installed outdoors. It includes a manual bypass: if the main contactor fails, the supply can be restored manually. Installation is simplified, the metering, communication and management functions being integrated into the same device, and it is compatible with the Huawei SUN2000 inverters and with the LUNA2000 batteries.
