Description

Deye BOS-A is a battery module of industrial format, larger and heavier than those for houses, used to build storage systems on the scale of an industrial hall or an office building. It is rack-mounted, and several modules connected together form a cluster - practically an energy reserve the size of a cabinet. Its role is to cover consumption peaks and to keep the activity going when the power goes out.

One module stores 7.68 kWh, and a cluster has between 7 and 21 modules, that is between 53.76 and 161.28 kWh - enough to supply important loads for hours on end or to cut the power peaks that make the bill more expensive. The rated current is 100 A, with up to 160 A on discharge, and the clusters are sized for inverters of 50-100 kW. Each module weighs about 70 kg and measures 601.5 x 520 x 135 mm, so handling requires two people or mechanical means, and mounting is done in a cabinet, indoors. The manufacturer declares a minimum of 6000 cycles at 90% depth of discharge, that is over 15 years at one discharge per day (rough estimate, depending on the operating regime).

Product code BOS-A-Pack7.68. LiFePO4 cells, 38.4 Vdc nominal, 200 Ah, 7.68 kWh; rated charge/discharge current 100 A, maximum discharge 160 A. Series connection, 7-21 packs per cluster managed by the BOS-A-PDU-2 control box, resulting in 53.76-161.28 kWh. Internal BMS with cell voltage balancing and protection against overcharge, excessive discharge, overcurrent and extreme temperatures; CAN 2.0 communication. Charging temperature 0...55 degrees C, discharging -20...55 degrees C, IP20 for cabinet mounting; CE, IEC 62619, IEC 62040, UN38.3, VDE-2510 certifications.

Who it suits

Suited to an industrial hall, a warehouse or an office building with 50-100 kW inverters, where the aim is to reduce consumption peaks and keep the activity continuous.

Terms explained

  • Cluster: A group of battery modules connected together and controlled by the same control box, which behaves like a single large battery.
  • Consumption peak: The moment when the building draws the most power; the battery covers it from the reserve, so that the contracted power and the bill do not increase.
  • 90% DOD: The battery is considered discharged when it still has 10% in it; the declared cycles refer to this way of using it.

Technical details

Specifications confirmed from the manufacturer's datasheet

Deye BOS-A, code BOS-A-Pack7.68, is the battery module of the BOS-A commercial high-voltage storage system. The cells are LiFePO4, the module's nominal voltage is 38.4 V, the capacity 200 Ah and the rated energy 7.68 kWh. The format is rack type, with dimensions 601.5 x 520 x 135 mm and a mass of about 70 kg.

The rated charge and discharge current is 100 A, and the maximum discharge reaches 160 A. The modules are connected in series into a cluster managed by the BOS-A-PDU-2 control box: between 7 and 21 packs can be connected, resulting in system capacities from 53.76 kWh up to 161.28 kWh, suitable for inverters of 50 - 100 kW.

The internal BMS automatically manages the charge and discharge cycles and the cell voltage balancing, with protection against overcharge, excessive discharge, overcurrent and extreme temperatures. Communication is via CAN 2.0. The declared service life is a minimum of 6000 cycles at 90% DOD.

The permissible charging temperature is 0...55 degrees C, and the discharging one -20...55 degrees C, with IP20 protection rating for cabinet mounting. Certifications: CE, IEC 62619, IEC 62040, UN38.3, VDE-2510.
