On ordinary panels you can see thin metal stripes on the front that collect the current, but which cover part of the active surface. Here all the electrical contacts have been moved to the back of the cell - hence the name All Back Contact. The result is a completely clean front, which receives light over its whole surface, and a uniform appearance on the roof. In addition, this architecture copes better when a shadow falls partially on the panel.
One panel gives 450 W under standard conditions and 339 W at the real outdoor temperature (NOCT), over a surface of 1,99 m2, with an efficiency of 22,6%. It weighs only 21,5 kg, that is it is easier to lift and position on the roof and it loads the rafters less - a real advantage on old houses or on slim roof structures. In heat it loses 0,26% of its power per degree, less than classic panels, and the voltage stays stable (-0,22 %/degree C) on summer days. It withstands 5400 Pa of snow pressure on the front and 2400 Pa on the back and has been tested against hail with 25 mm balls launched at 23 m/s. The warranty is 25 years on the product and 30 years on performance, with 99% of the power after the first year, 0,35%/year degradation afterwards and about 90,6% at 30 years.

AIKO-A450-MAH54Mw (Neostar 2P) uses N-type ABC (All Back Contact) cells, in which both electrical contacts are moved to the back of the cell. The practical result is the absence of busbars and metallisation fingers from the front, therefore a larger active surface and a uniform visual appearance. The construction is mono-glass: 3,2 mm tempered glass on the front, backsheet on the back, anodised aluminium frame, 4 mm2 cables with a length of 1200 mm and MC4-Evo2 connectors.
At STC the module delivers 450 W, with Vmp 33,50 V, Imp 13,44 A, Voc 40,49 V and Isc 14,21 A, respectively 339 W at NOCT (31,64 V / 10,72 A). The module efficiency is 22,6% over a surface of 1,99 m2. The temperature coefficients are very good for its class: -0,26 %/degree C for Pmax and -0,22 %/degree C for Voc, which means smaller losses in heat and more stable string voltages on summer days.
The ABC architecture also offers good behaviour under partial shading and resistance to microcracks.
