Description

Sandwich panel roofs have taller and more widely spaced ribs than ordinary sheet metal, so a thin rail would bend between them. This profile is taller and wider precisely so that it can span the ribs without deforming and so that it spreads the weight of the panels over several support points. It is laid across the crowns of the ribs and becomes the base on which the modules are fixed.

The 60 mm height gives the rigidity needed to span the tall ribs, while the 110 mm width offers a good bearing surface on the crown of the rib. The profile is 3 metres long and weighs 3,78 kg per piece. Fixing is done in the crown, with 6x25 double-threaded self-drilling screws and an EPDM washer that seals the penetration; on sandwich panels it is essential that the fixing goes into the upper sheet, in the crown, without compressing the insulating core - otherwise the insulation of the building is ruined. The profile is supplied without a gasket, and the 20x3 mm self-adhesive EPDM tape and the matching screws are ordered separately.

Corab S.A. profile, code XPF_SM030B, EAN 5904378627805, length 3000 mm, section 110x60 mm, aluminium alloy 6060 T66, mass 3,78 kg, natural silver finish, part of the Corab T-02 construction. The T-channel on the upper face takes M8 hammer-head bolts for the mid and end clamps, allowing horizontal or vertical mounting of the modules. Transparency note: Corab does not list in its B2B catalogue a code dedicated exclusively to sandwich panels; the 110x60 mm profile is the variant in the range with the geometry suited to such roof coverings. Corab warranty: 10 years standard, extendable to 15 years through registration.

Who it suits

Suitable for industrial halls and farms with sandwich panel roofs or sheet metal with tall ribs, where the load must be distributed over several ribs.

Terms explained

  • Sandwich panel: A roof element made of two metal sheets with an insulating core between them; fixing is done only into the upper sheet, so that the insulation is not crushed.
  • Rib crown: The upper part of the corrugation of the sheet; the rail is fixed there because it is the most rigid point and the most sheltered from water.
  • Alloy 6060 T66: A type of heat-treated aluminium, chosen because it is light and at the same time rigid enough for load-bearing profiles.

Technical details

Series-level specifications — valid for the product family

For roofs made of sandwich panels, where the ribs of the covering are taller and more widely spaced than on thin trapezoidal sheet, Corab uses the SMT L3000 profile in the tall 110x60 mm section, code XPF_SM030B, EAN 5904378627805. The profile is 3000 mm long, made of aluminium alloy 6060 T66, weighs 3,78 kg and is supplied in a natural silver finish. It is part of the Corab T-02 construction.

The 60 mm height of the profile provides the rigidity needed to span the tall ribs and to distribute the loads over several fixing points, while the 110 mm width offers a bearing surface on the crown of the rib. Fixing is done in the crown, with 6x25 double-threaded self-drilling screws and an EPDM washer that seals the penetration; for sandwich panels it is essential that the fixing goes into the upper sheet, in the crown, without compressing the insulating core.

The profile is supplied without a gasket. As accessories, 20x3 mm self-adhesive EPDM tape for additional sealing on the base and the matching self-drilling screws can be added.
