It supports the panels on a sheet metal roof without loading it: a 4.8 m aluminium profile that weighs about 3.1 kg and raises the modules by only 22.5 mm.
The rail is the bar on which the panels sit, the way a shelf sits on brackets. It is attached to the sheet metal roof, and the panels are fixed onto it with clamps, without directly touching the roofing. The profile is made of aluminium, so it does not rust and remains light enough to be handled by a single person on the roof.
The bar is 4.8 m long and weighs about 3.1 kg (0.64 kg per linear metre), which means it can be lifted and positioned without machinery and adds very little weight to the structure. With a height of only 22.5 mm, the panels stay close to the sheet metal, visually discreet and less exposed to the wind. It is fixed directly on the ribs of the trapezoidal sheet through K2 BasicClip clamps, each clamp requiring 2 self-forming screws 6x38. If the roof requires a different length, the rail also exists in the range in the 2.40 m and 5.95 m versions, and the same rail is used as a base for the K2 Dome system on flat roofs.
Extruded profile in EN AW-6063 T66 aluminium, section 63 mm width x 22.5 mm height, linear mass 0.64 kg/m, with structural confirmation in the K2 Base sizing software, which provides the permissible spans and the number of fixing points for the wind and snow zone of the site. K2 BasicRail 22 is the load-bearing rail of the K2 BasicRail system, made of EN AW-6063 T66 aluminium, with a section of 63 mm width and 22.5 mm height and a linear mass of 0.64 kg/m.
