Description

It is the aluminium bar that supports the panels on the roof, in the medium length variant. It rests on the hooks fixed into the roof, and the modules are clamped onto it. The supporting elements - hooks, brackets, connectors - couple directly onto the flank of the profile, which lowers the height of the assembly and reduces the number of intermediate parts, and therefore the installation time as well.

The length of 3500 mm typically covers two modules mounted in portrait or one module mounted in landscape plus adjustment margin. Compared with short bars, a longer profile means fewer joints on the roof, therefore fewer points that must be checked and less installation time. The upper longitudinal channel, T shaped, receives the hammer-head bolts of the mid and end clamps, so that the modules can be positioned freely along the length of the bar, without improvised drilling on site. The aluminium is delivered natural or anodised and does not rust, and the bars are spliced to each other with dedicated connectors in order to form long rows.

Carrier profile of extruded aluminium, usually alloys from the EN AW-6063 / EN AW-6005A group, natural or anodised finish, length 3500 mm. Accessories connect laterally onto the profile, plus a T-type longitudinal channel for clamps with hammer-head bolts; the sections are spliced with dedicated connectors, which transmit the bending moment across the splice joint. The number and position of the support points are determined by static calculation, depending on the snow load and the wind pressure at the site; the tables of admissible spans published by the system manufacturer must be observed for the validity of the structural warranty.

Who it suits

Suitable for residential and small commercial installations with medium length rows, where a reduction in the number of joints is sought.

Terms explained

  • Portrait / landscape mounting: The panel placed vertically (portrait) or horizontally (landscape); the orientation decides how many modules fit on one bar.
  • Splicing: Joining two bars end to end with a connector, so that they form a longer continuous row.
  • Admissible span: The maximum distance between two support points, calculated so that the bar does not bend under snow and wind.

Technical details

Generic product — standard specifications

The aluminium rail with side fixing and a length of 3500 mm is the medium length variant of the same family of carrier profiles. Side fixing means that the supporting elements - roof hooks, brackets, connectors - couple directly onto the flank of the profile, which lowers the construction height of the assembly and reduces the number of intermediate parts.

The material is extruded aluminium for construction, with a natural or anodised surface; the section includes a T-type longitudinal channel for the hammer-head bolts of the mid and end clamps, so that the modules can be positioned freely along the length of the bar, without drilling on site. The sections are spliced with dedicated connectors, which transmit the bending moment across the splice joint.

The length of 3500 mm typically covers two modules mounted in portrait or one module mounted in landscape plus the adjustment margin, and reduces the number of joints compared with short bars. The number and position of the support points are determined by static calculation, depending on the snow load and the wind pressure at the site; system manufacturers publish tables of admissible spans for each profile, which must be observed for the validity of the structural warranty.
