Description

It is the aluminium bar on which the photovoltaic panels actually rest. It is fixed over the hooks anchored into the roof and forms the skeleton onto which the modules are clamped. The particularity of this profile is that the accessories couple onto the side face of the bar, not only onto the upper channel - this way the assembly sits lower, closer to the roof, and is installed faster, because the intermediate parts between the hook and the rail disappear.

The length of 2400 mm is the right one for small panel fields, short rows and completing row ends, where a 4-6 m bar would have to be cut and would generate material waste. The profile is extruded from aluminium, a light material resistant to corrosion thanks to the natural oxide layer that forms on the surface, so it does not rust on the roof. The upper channel, T shaped, receives the hammer-head bolts of the mid and end clamps, which means that the panels can be positioned anywhere along the length of the bar, without drilling on site. It is delivered with a natural or anodised surface, and the bars can be spliced to each other with dedicated connectors.

Carrier profile of extruded aluminium, usually alloys from the EN AW-6063 / EN AW-6005A group, natural or anodised finish, length 2400 mm. Accessories connect laterally, directly onto the profile, plus an upper T-type channel for clamps with hammer-head bolts; splicing through a rail connector compatible with the profile. The span between hooks is established by static calculation, depending on the snow and wind loads at the site, according to SR EN 1991-1-3 and SR EN 1991-1-4. The tightening elements are recommended in stainless steel A2, for galvanic compatibility with aluminium.

Who it suits

Suitable for a small residential installation or for completing row ends, where a long bar would mean material cut and thrown away.

Terms explained

  • Side fixing: The hooks and accessories attach onto the flank of the bar, not only onto the upper channel, which lowers the total height of the installation.
  • T-type channel: The groove on the upper side of the bar in which the clamp bolts slide, so that the panels can be placed anywhere along the length.
  • Galvanic corrosion: The degradation that appears when two different metals touch in the presence of water; it is avoided by using stainless steel bolts together with aluminium.

Technical details

Generic product — standard specifications

The aluminium rail with side fixing and a length of 2400 mm is a carrier profile designed so that the roof hooks, connectors and accessories couple onto the side face of the bar, not only onto the upper channel. This geometry reduces the total construction height of the system and shortens the installation time, because it eliminates intermediate parts between the hook and the rail.

The profile is extruded from aluminium for construction, a material chosen for its favourable strength/mass ratio and for the resistance to atmospheric corrosion given by the natural oxide layer; the surface is delivered natural or anodised. The upper T-type channel takes the hammer-head bolts of the mid and end clamps, allowing continuous positioning of the modules along the whole length of the bar.

The length of 2400 mm is suitable for small fields, for short rows and for completing row ends, where a 4-6 m bar would generate waste. The sections are spliced with connectors dedicated to the profile, and the span between hooks is established by static calculation depending on the snow and wind loads at the site, according to SR EN 1991-1-3 and SR EN 1991-1-4. The tightening elements are recommended in stainless steel A2, for galvanic compatibility with aluminium.
