CARPORT Kit 2 cars

It is the version for two parking spaces: a self-supporting metal structure, fixed on a foundation, which keeps the cars sheltered and at the same time carries the panel array. Instead of taking up the roof of the house, you use the surface above the parking area, which is free anyway. The package includes the structure and the panels; the inverter - the device that converts the direct current produced by the panels into alternating current, usable in the house - is chosen separately.

The 15 modules of 430 W add up to 6.45 kWp, a usual size for a residential prosumer or for supplying two electric car charging points. For this power an inverter of 5-6 kW is usually sized, with a DC/AC ratio above one, because the small tilt, of about 10 degrees, flattens the production peak at midday. The panels are bifacial, so they also gain from the light reflected by the paving under the carport, they withstand 5400 Pa of snow and 2400 Pa of wind and work between -40 and +85 °C, and the coefficient of -0.26 %/°C limits the power loss on very hot days. The steel structure with anti-corrosion protection is made to stay outdoors permanently, and the modular system allows later extension with structural modules for more parking spaces; the delivery also includes 40 m of 4 mm solar cable.

Terms explained

• kWp: The maximum power of the panels under ideal sun conditions; the 15 modules of 430 W add up to 6.45 kWp.
• DC/AC ratio above one: Panels with a total power greater than that of the inverter are installed, because the panels rarely reach their peak power; this way the inverter works for longer close to its capacity.
• Prosumer: A customer who produces part of their energy themselves and delivers the surplus into the grid, having a special contract with the supplier.

The HiHero modules are heterojunction (HJT) on an n-type wafer, 108 cells, bifacial in glass-glass construction, with dimensions 1722 x 1134 x 30 mm and a mass of 23 kg. The module efficiency is approximately 22%, and the power temperature coefficient of -0.26 %/°C limits the losses at high temperatures, better than on classic PERC modules. STC electrical parameters: Voc 40.1 V, Isc 13.38 A, Vmp 33.8 V, Imp 12.76 A. Resistance of 5400 Pa to snow and 2400 Pa to wind, operation between -40 and +85°C. The bifacial construction allows an additional gain from the radiation reflected by the paving under the carport.
