Description

At the end of each row of panels there is no longer a neighbouring module for the ordinary clamp to rest on, so an end clamp is used there. It presses on the frame only on one side and has a lateral counter-support on the other, so that the force is transmitted perpendicularly, without moments that would deform the module profile. In practice, it is the part that closes and locks the row.

Being the part through which the wind stresses the edge of the panel array most strongly, the end clamp is chosen exactly according to the frame height of your module: there are fixed versions for 30, 35 or 40 mm and universal versions, with an adjustable clamping range. Some models include parts of engineering plastic that protect the paint of the frame and hold the clamp in position before tightening, which makes installation easier. The M8 hammer head bolt can move freely along the bar, so the exact width of the module array is adjusted on site. It is recommended to use the same type of clamp across the whole array, so that the wind loads are taken up uniformly.

Body of extruded aluminium, bolt and locking plate of A2 stainless steel, fastening to the rail with an M8 hammer head bolt inserted into the longitudinal channel. Frame heights usually served 30-40 mm, depending on the version, fixed or universal. The tightening torque and the permitted clamping zones indicated in the module's installation manual are to be observed.

Who it suits

Suitable for any panel array with modules with a frame of 30-40 mm, on a pitched roof, flat roof, ground structure or carport.

Terms explained

  • End clamp: The part that holds the first and last panel of the row; the rest of the panels are held two by two with mid clamps.
  • Locking plate: The metal part that turns in the rail channel and prevents the bolt from coming out of the groove.
  • Permitted clamping zones: The portions of the frame where the panel manufacturer allows the clamp to be tightened; outside them the module warranty is lost.

Technical details

Generic product — standard specifications

The end clamp fixes the module at the extremity of a row, where there is no neighbouring module to be held by the same part. In terms of construction, it has a single pressing surface on the module frame and a lateral counter-support, so that the clamping force is applied perpendicular to the frame, without inducing moments that would deform the module profile.

The body is made of extruded aluminium, and the bolt and locking plate of A2 stainless steel; some versions include elements of engineering plastic that protect the paint of the frame and ensure the positioning of the clamp before tightening. Fastening to the rail is done with an M8 hammer head bolt inserted into the longitudinal channel, which allows free positioning along the bar and adaptation to the exact width of the module array.

End clamps are chosen according to the frame height of the module; there are fixed versions for 30, 35 or 40 mm and universal versions with an adjustable clamping range. It is recommended to observe the tightening torque and the permitted clamping zones indicated in the module's installation manual, as well as to use the same type of clamp across the whole array, for uniformity in taking up the wind loads.
