Description

A carport is a shelter for the car which, instead of sheet metal or polycarbonate, has photovoltaic panels on the roof. This structure is self-supporting, that is, it stands on its own foundation and does not lean on the building, and it does two things at once: it keeps the car sheltered from rain, hail and strong sun and provides the surface on which the panels are mounted. Only the metal frame with the fixing system is supplied - the panels and the electrical part are ordered separately.

The variant for one vehicle takes 9 modules, mounted in portrait format, 3 of them vertically; with 430 W modules, as in the equivalent kit variant, this means indicatively around 3.9 kWp. The roof is tilted at about 10 degrees and oriented to the south - a small angle keeps the construction low and the wind load moderate, useful in urban areas with size restrictions, at the cost of a slightly lower annual production than with a 30-35 degree installation. The execution in hot-dip galvanised steel, respectively anti-corrosion treated metal (Magnelis or equivalent), is dimensioned for permanent outdoor exposure, including splashing with water and salt from the roadway, so it requires no periodic maintenance. The system is modular: if later you want another parking place, additional structural modules are added, without redesigning the assembly.

Product code XFS_WSC001.1, WSC Carport system (structure manufacturer CORAB). Capacity 1 vehicle, 9 modules supported, portrait arrangement, 3 modules vertically, tilt approx. 10 degrees, south orientation, fixing on foundation. Execution in hot-dip galvanised steel / anti-corrosion treated metal of the Magnelis type or similar, expandable with additional structural modules. The delivery includes only the structure and the panel fixing system; the modules, the inverter, the cables and the DC/AC protections are dimensioned and ordered separately or as a complete kit variant.

Who it suits

Suitable for those who want a photovoltaic system but cannot or do not want to occupy the roof of the house, and who have a parking place where a foundation can be poured.

Terms explained

  • Self-supporting structure: A construction that stands on its own foundation, without being fastened to the house or to another wall.
  • kWp: The maximum power the panels can deliver under ideal sun conditions; it is the figure by which the size of a photovoltaic system is measured.
  • Hot-dip galvanising: The immersion of steel in molten zinc, which leaves a thick protective layer; the part lasts many years outdoors without rusting.

Technical details

Series-level specifications — valid for the product family

The WSC carport is a self-supporting metal structure that combines the role of a car shelter with that of a support for photovoltaic modules. It is fixed on a foundation and is designed in a modular way: the system covers one or two parking places and can later be extended with additional structural modules, without redesigning the assembly.

The execution is in hot-dip galvanised steel, respectively anti-corrosion treated metal (Magnelis or equivalent), dimensioned for permanent outdoor exposure, including splashing with water and salt from the roadway. The roof has a tilt of approximately 10 degrees to the horizontal, with a south orientation, and the modules are mounted in portrait format, 3 modules vertically in the manufacturer's reference configuration.

The variant for one vehicle takes 9 photovoltaic modules. The delivery contains only the metal structure with the panel fixing system — the panels, the inverter, the cables and the DC/AC protections are ordered separately or in a complete kit variant. Product code XFS_WSC001.1.

The reduced angle of 10 degrees keeps the profile low and the wind load moderate, which is useful in urban areas with size restrictions, at the cost of a slightly lower annual productivity than with a 30-35 degree installation.
