Description

BasicClip is the small part through which the rail is fastened to the sheet metal roof. It is not metallic, but of a technical plastic reinforced with glass fibre, treated to withstand the sun. Its role is twofold: it holds the rail and, at the same time, it prevents direct contact between the aluminium and the roof sheet, a contact that over time would lead to corrosion.

Each clamp is fixed on the crest of the corrugation with 2 self-forming screws 6x38, so the installation is done directly from above, without interventions inside the building. The fastening area is exactly the place where water stays most often, and the separation through plastic material eliminates the galvanic corrosion that appears between aluminium and galvanised sheet. The clamp also allows the rail to move longitudinally on expansion, the principle on which the floating BasicRail installation is based, the fixed point being made separately with the BasicLock 22 set. How many clamps are needed per metre of rail is not a fixed value: it is calculated for each roof, and at the edges and corners, where the wind pulls the hardest, they are mounted more densely.

BasicClip, article code 1001164, of UV-resistant glass-fibre reinforced polyamide, with general technical approval for construction. Fixing with 2 self-forming screws 6x38 per clamp, for the K2 BasicRail rail on a trapezoidal sheet covering. The number and distribution of the clamps are determined by calculation in K2 Base, according to the wind and snow zone, the geometry of the roof and the thickness of the sheet; for tile-imitation sheet the BasicClip CSM adapter of EPDM 45 Shore A is used, which ensures the support and the sealing on the curved profile.

Who it suits

Suitable for halls, warehouses and agricultural buildings with a trapezoidal sheet covering, where the rail is mounted directly on the corrugations, without an intermediate structure.

Terms explained

  • Galvanic corrosion: The degradation that appears when two different metals touch in the presence of water; the plastic part between them stops the phenomenon.
  • Glass-fibre reinforced polyamide: A technical plastic strengthened with fibres, much stiffer and more resistant than ordinary plastic.
  • Self-forming screw: Screw that creates its own thread in the sheet, without a previously prepared hole and without a nut.

Technical details

Specifications confirmed from the manufacturer's datasheet

K2 BasicClip, article code 1001164, is the fixing part that connects the K2 BasicRail rail directly to the trapezoidal sheet. It is made of glass-fibre reinforced polyamide, resistant to UV radiation, and holds a general technical approval for construction, which means that its performance has been evaluated and documented for use in construction structures, not only declared by the manufacturer.

The choice of the reinforced polymer material is not accidental: the clamp physically separates the aluminium rail from the galvanised steel sheet, eliminating the metal-to-metal contact and therefore the risk of galvanic corrosion at the fastening point - exactly the area where water stagnates most often. At the same time, the clamp allows the rail to move longitudinally on thermal expansion, a principle on which the floating installation of the BasicRail system is based, with the fixed point made separately through the BasicLock 22 set.

Each BasicClip is fixed on the crest of the corrugation with 2 self-forming screws 6x38. The number of clamps per metre of rail and their distribution are determined by calculation in the K2 Base software, according to the wind and snow zone, the geometry of the roof and the thickness of the sheet - the edge and corner zones require a higher density of fastenings. For tile-imitation sheet coverings the range includes the BasicClip CSM adapter, of EPDM 45 Shore A, which ensures the support and the sealing on the curved profile.
