In a photovoltaic system, the energy travels on two paths: from the panels to the inverter, with direct current, and from the inverter to the building's board, with alternating current. This board is the single point at which both paths are protected and can be switched off. Its main role is to take the voltage surges that appear from lightning striking nearby or from switching on the grid, before they reach the input stage of the inverter - the most frequent cause of failure in roof installations.
The set is dimensioned for three-phase installations with an inverter of up to 15 kW and a panel field organised in 2 strings. Each string enters the board protected against surges and short circuits, before the MPPT inputs of the inverter. On the alternating current side, the board becomes the place from which the installation is disconnected both for maintenance work and for disconnection in the event of a fault. Together with the board, the box for the distribution operator's meter is supplied, of hard plastic, with dimensions 35.5 x 22.5 x 14 cm and holes for seals - a mandatory requirement in the prosumer's connection file. The box protects the meter from dust, humidity and mechanical shocks.

The assembly (product code 15-AC/DC-2str-tri) brings together in a single point the protection board for the direct current and the alternating current sides of a three-phase on-grid photovoltaic system, together with the sealable box intended for the distribution operator's meter. It is dimensioned for installations with a three-phase inverter of up to 15 kW and a photovoltaic field organised in 2 strings.
On the direct current side, the board takes the 2 module strings and protects them against surges and short circuits, before they reach the MPPT inputs of the inverter. The role of this section is to limit the energy of the surges induced by indirect atmospheric discharges and by switching on the grid, which otherwise discharge directly into the input stage of the inverter - the most frequent cause of failure in roof installations.
On the alternating current side, the board provides protection of the circuit between the inverter and the consumer's main board against short circuits, overloads and surges, on a three-phase 3F+N grid. In practice, the board becomes the single point of disconnection and protection of the installation, both for maintenance interventions and for disconnection in the event of a fault.
