It is the eye of the photovoltaic installation: it is fitted where the current enters the building and permanently measures how much is consumed and how much would go to the grid. Based on this information, the inverter knows how much to produce and when to charge or discharge the batteries, so that the energy is used in the building, not delivered for nothing. Without this meter, the inverter works “blindly” and cannot comply with a possible condition of not injecting anything into the grid. It does not interrupt the current and does not command anything directly — it only measures and reports.
It is intended for three-phase installations with a neutral and is mounted on a DIN rail, in the board, taking up little space: the housing measures 100 x 72 x 65.5 mm. The current is measured indirectly, with three current transformers of 250 A/50 mA supplied in the package, which are clamped around the existing cables — so the main busbar does not have to be cut or interrupted, which greatly simplifies installation in a board that is already in operation. The package also includes the cables: 5 m for the transformers and 10 m for the data link with the inverter, and the total weight with accessories is about 1.5 kg. The meter has a display and colour markings for identifying the connections, consumes under 1 W and works between -25 and +60 °C, so it can also sit in a protected outdoor board.

DTSU666-H 250 A/50 mA is the three-phase smart meter (Smart Power Sensor) produced by CHINT for the Huawei photovoltaic ecosystem. Based on the data from the connection point, the SUN2000 inverters can apply the limitation of the power injected into the grid (including zero export), can optimise self-consumption and can coordinate the charging of the LUNA2000 batteries. The meter has an LCD display with colour visual identification of the connections, works between -25 °C and +60 °C (storage -40 °C ... +70 °C) at 5–95% RH humidity without condensation, and the total weight with accessories is about 1.5 kg.
