ShineWiFi-X is a small module that plugs into the USB port of the Growatt inverter and gives it access to the internet in your home. From there, the inverter sends its operating data on its own to the manufacturer's server, and you can follow on your phone or in a browser how much the panels produced today, yesterday or last month. Without it the inverter works normally, but you are left with no visibility over production and possible faults.
It connects to the home router on the 2.4 GHz band, with a maximum communication distance of about 50 m in open space, so for an inverter mounted in a garage or a storage room it is worth checking the signal beforehand. If the internet goes down, the module keeps approximately one month of data in its internal memory and synchronises it by itself when the connection returns, so no gaps are left in the charts. It is powered directly from the inverter, with a consumption of at most 1.2 W, so it needs no separate socket and requires no maintenance. Installation is plug-and-play: you insert it into the port, give it the WiFi network from the ShinePhone app and it starts transmitting. Through the same module, the installer can see the alarms remotely and can update the inverter's firmware without travelling.
