Description

A hybrid inverter is the device that links the panels, the battery, the house and the grid and decides at every moment where the produced energy goes. This model is three-phase, therefore for houses with a three-phase connection, and works with high voltage batteries, that is modules connected in a chain up to a high voltage, a solution that keeps the current through the cables at low values and the losses likewise. Its particularity is the number of panel inputs: four, more than usual at this power, which means that a roof with four different faces can be used in full.

The 12 kW of continuous power support the consumption of a large house, and in the absence of the grid the backup output delivers 12 kW as well, with double the power for 10 seconds at motor start-up. Up to 19.2 kW of panels can go onto the roof, and each of the four inputs takes up to 9 kW, so you can combine slopes with different orientations and tilts without a weaker one dragging down the rest. The high voltage battery works between 120 and 800 V and charges or discharges with up to 12 kW, that is the battery alone can cover the house consumption in the evening hours. Production starts from 160 V on the panel side, so the system begins to work early in the morning. The IP66 enclosure is well sealed against dust and water, the device is 599 x 546 x 243 mm and 31 kg, and cooling is done with dual fans, so that the failure of one does not stop the installation. Compatible batteries include established brands such as BYD, LG, Dyness and Pylontech, so the choice is not limited to a single supplier.

Rated AC power 12 kW / 12 kVA, three-phase output 3/N/PE at 380 V or 400 V, 50/60 Hz, maximum AC current 18.2 A / 17.3 A. PV input: maximum usable power 19.2 kW, maximum input voltage 1000 V, rated voltage 600 V, start-up from 160 V, 4 MPPT trackers with a range of 200-850 V, 20 A maximum current and up to 9 kW power on each MPPT. High voltage lithium-ion battery port 120-800 V, 50 A maximum current, 12 kW charge/discharge power. Backup output 12 kW with overload 2 x Pn for 10 s and UPS-level switching. Maximum efficiency 97.7%, European efficiency 97.5%, IP66, cooling with intelligently controlled redundant fans, 599 x 546 x 243 mm, 31 kg, working temperature -25...+60 deg C. Standard CAN and RS485 communication, with optional WiFi, cellular or LAN modules; integrated AFCI for arc fault detection on the direct current side; compatibility with BYD, LG, Dyness and Pylontech batteries.

Who it suits

Suitable for a large house or a small commercial site with a three-phase connection, which has a complicated roof, with up to four orientations, and wants a high voltage battery plus a backup supply for the essential loads.

Terms explained

  • High voltage battery: A bank of batteries connected in a chain up to a high voltage; a lower current passes through the cables, so less energy is lost as heat.
  • MPPT: The circuit that looks for the point where a group of panels produces the most; four such circuits mean four roof zones working independently.
  • Redundant fans: The device has several fans, so that if one stops, the cooling continues and the installation does not block.

Technical details

Specifications confirmed from the manufacturer's datasheet

Solis S6-EH3P12K-H is part of the S6-EH3P(12-20)K-H series of three-phase hybrid inverters for high voltage batteries, intended for large homes and small commercial applications. The rated AC power is 12 kW, respectively 12 kVA, with a three-phase output 3/N/PE at 380 V or 400 V, 50/60 Hz, and a maximum current of 18.2 A / 17.3 A.

The photovoltaic side accepts up to 19.2 kW of usable PV power, at a maximum input voltage of 1000 V, rated voltage 600 V and start-up from 160 V. The 4 MPPT trackers work in the range 200-850 V, each with 20 A maximum input current and up to 9 kW of power per MPPT - a rare configuration in this power class, which allows roofs with 4 different orientations.

The battery port accepts high voltage lithium-ion batteries in the range 120-800 V, with 50 A maximum current and 12 kW charge/discharge power. The backup output delivers 12 kW with an overload of 2 times the rated power for 10 seconds, and the switching to backup mode is done at UPS level.

The maximum efficiency is 97.7%, and the European one 97.5%. The enclosure has IP66 protection and cooling with intelligently controlled redundant fans, dimensions of 599 x 546 x 243 mm and a mass of 31 kg. The thermal range is -25...+60 deg C. Standard communication includes CAN and RS485, with optional WiFi, cellular or LAN modules. The series is compatible with batteries from established manufacturers (BYD, LG, Dyness, Pylontech) and includes an integrated AFCI for DC arc fault detection.
