Description

This is the more powerful, 8 kW version of the Solis single-phase hybrid inverter. It does three things at once: it converts the current from the panels into the current used by the house, it charges and discharges the battery as needed and, if the grid goes down, it keeps supplying the house from the battery. It has a backup port that takes over the load practically instantly, so the transition feels at most like a flicker. It is wall-mounted, indoors or outdoors, and is configured and monitored from the app.

The 8 kW cover a single-phase home with high consumption, and the photovoltaic side takes up to 12,8 kW of usable power, from a recommended array of maximum 16 kW - enough for a generous roof, split over several orientations. The two MPPT inputs accept 32 A each and, in total, up to 4 panel strings, which leaves room for oversizing. The 48 V battery, lithium-ion or lead-acid, charges and discharges with 8 kW and up to 190 A, among the highest values in the single-phase class, so the battery fills up quickly during good sunshine hours. The backup port delivers 8 kW, withstands 200% overload for 10 seconds for starting motors and switches in under 4 ms; several units can be linked together, in a microgrid. The IP66 enclosure allows outdoor installation between -40 and +60 C, and cooling uses redundant intelligent ventilation, meaning the fans start only when needed and are doubled.

Terms explained

Charging current of 190 A: It shows how fast the battery can be filled; the higher the value, the faster the surplus from the sunny hours goes into storage.
String (panel string): A group of panels connected in series, like a chain; the inverter accepts up to 4 such chains, distributed over the two MPPT inputs.
Redundant intelligent ventilation: The fans start only when the equipment heats up and are doubled, so that a failure of one does not stop the cooling.
