The inverter is the brain of the photovoltaic installation: it converts the direct current produced by the panels into alternating current, the one in the house sockets. Being hybrid, it also takes care of the battery and decides by itself when to send the energy to the loads, when to set it aside in the battery and when to feed it into the grid. In addition, it has a backup output: if the grid goes down, the house switches to the battery so quickly that the appliances do not reset. It is wall-mounted, in a sealed enclosure, and is monitored from your phone.

With 6 kW rated power it covers the current consumption of a single-phase home, and on the panel side it accepts up to 9.6 kW of usable power, from a recommended photovoltaic array of a maximum of 12 kW - meaning you can install more panels than the inverter's power, so that it produces well also in cloudy weather. It works with 48 V batteries, lithium-ion or lead-acid, which it charges and discharges with up to 6 kW. During a grid outage, the backup output delivers the same 6 kW and withstands a peak of 200% for 10 seconds, enough to start a pump or a fridge compressor, and the switchover is done in under 4 ms. The PLUS version has two backup ports, so you can separate the critical loads from the rest of the house, accepts a generator and operation in parallel with other units. The IP66 enclosure and the -40...+60 C range allow outdoor mounting, and natural convection cooling means it has no fans to make noise or clog up.

Suitable for a single-phase house with ordinary consumption, which has or is building a 48 V battery bank and wants to stay supplied during power outages, possibly with a generator as a last reserve.

Terms explained

• MPPT: The circuit that permanently looks for the point at which the panels deliver the most power; two MPPTs means you can connect panels on two different roof pitches, without one interfering with the other.
• 200% overload for 10 seconds: For a short time, the inverter can deliver double its power, enough to start motors that demand a peak at start-up: pumps, compressors, washing machines.
• Low-voltage battery (48 V): The type of battery this inverter pairs with; a high-voltage battery, of several hundred volts, cannot be connected to it.
