Huawei SUN2000-6KTL-L1 6kW single-phase hybrid inverter

This is a single-phase inverter that works directly with the battery, without a second device between them. During the day it sends the panel energy to the loads and puts the surplus into the battery, and in the evening it takes the energy back out of the battery. With the Backup Box-B0 or SmartGuard 63A accessory, during a power outage it can keep the entire home energised, not just a few selected circuits.

It delivers 6,000 W and accepts up to 9,000 Wp of panels, that is an installation oversized relative to the inverter, useful because the panels reach maximum power only a few hours a day. The battery is connected directly, at 350-560 V, with 5,000 W on charging and 5,000 W on discharging, so in the evening large appliances can also work, not only the lighting. Huawei LUNA2000-5/10/15-S0 or LUNA2000-7/14/21-S1 batteries can be used, which allows the capacity to be chosen according to real consumption. The unit weighs 12.0 kg, measures 365 x 375 x 156 mm and is cooled by natural convection, without a fan, so it makes no noise, and the IP65 enclosure allows outdoor installation, between -25 and +60 C. The installation is monitored from the FusionSolar app, through the integrated WLAN.

Terms explained

• Whole-home backup: Unlike the solutions that during an outage supply only a few selected circuits, the dedicated accessory switches the whole board of the house onto the battery.
• AFCI: The function that detects the electric arc, that is the spark from a loosened contact on the direct current cables, and stops the installation before a fire risk appears.
• Natural convection: Cooling without a fan, through the air that circulates by itself over the enclosure; it means silent operation and one moving part less that could wear out.

SUN2000-6KTL-L1 is a Huawei single-phase inverter from the Smart Energy Controller family, with 6,000 W rated AC power and 6,000 VA maximum apparent power. The DC side accepts up to 9,000 Wp of recommended modules, a maximum voltage of 600 V and two MPPT trackers with an operating range of 90-560 V (start-up at 100 V, nominal voltage 360 V), each accepting a maximum of 12.5 A. The maximum efficiency is 98.4%, and the weighted European one 97.8%.

The battery interface is integrated, without a separate battery inverter: it accepts Huawei LUNA2000-5/10/15-S0 and LUNA2000-7/14/21-S1 batteries, at an operating voltage of 350-560 Vdc, with 15 A maximum current and 5,000 W maximum charging power, respectively discharging power. With the Backup Box-B0 or SmartGuard 63A, backup supply for the entire home is obtained.

The output is single-phase 220/230/240 V AC, 50/60 Hz, with 27.3 A maximum current.
