Description

This hybrid inverter links the panels, the battery, the grid and the loads in the house: it converts the direct current from the panels into the 230 V current in the sockets, puts the surplus into the battery and, when the grid goes down, supplies the house from the battery. The particularity of this version is that it accepts a panel array much larger than its output power, which means better production in the weak hours of the day and in the cold season. The enclosure is sealed against dust and splashes, and cooling is done in a controlled way, with air.

With 6000 W of active power it can keep the everyday loads of a home running at the same time, and in the absence of the grid it delivers twice this power for a short time (10 seconds), enough to start the motors of pumps or compressors. Modules totalling up to 12000 W can be connected, of which the inverter processes a maximum of 9600 W - practically, you can cover several roof pitches without changing the inverter. The battery charges and discharges at up to 135 A, that is roughly about 6.5 kW at 48 V, so it fills quickly at midday and can support powerful loads in the evening. The grid-to-load link supports 40 A, and the maximum efficiency of 97.6% means small conversion losses. It weighs 24.9 kg, measures 330x580x232 mm and stays under 30 dB, so it is not disturbing if mounted next to a living area. Monitoring from the phone is done with an optional WiFi, Bluetooth, 4G or LAN module.

PV: 12000 W of connected power, 9600 W maximum at the input, 2 MPPTs with one string each, 18+18 A (Isc 27+27 A), Vmax 500 V, start-up 125 V, MPPT window 150-425 V, nominal 370 V. AC: 6000 W active, 6600 VA apparent, 27.3/26.1 A rated and 30/28.7 A maximum, 220/230 V (0.85-1.1 Un), 50/45-55 Hz or 60/55-65 Hz, L+N+PE, bypass 40 A, off-grid 2x Pn for 10 s, maximum efficiency 97.6%, European 96.5%, MPPT efficiency above 99%. Lead-acid or lithium battery, 40-60 V, 135 A charge/discharge, automatic adaptation to the BMS. RS485/RS232/CAN communication, optional GPRS/WiFi/Bluetooth/4G/LAN monitoring. IP65 enclosure, 330x580x232 mm, 24.9 kg, intelligent air cooling under 30 dB. Grid certifications: VDE-AR-N 4105, EN 50549, CEI 0-21, G98/G99, UNE 217002, OVE R25, RD 140, IEC 61727/62116.

Who it suits

Suited to a house with medium to high consumption that wants to install a generous panel array (up to 12 kW connected) on a single phase, with a 48 V battery and a power reserve during a grid outage.

Terms explained

  • Connected PV power vs. input power: You can connect panels of up to 12 kW, but the inverter processes at most 9.6 kW at peak; the surplus is lost only in the few hours of maximum, the rest of the day being clear gain.
  • Active power and apparent power (W and VA): The watt is the power that does actual work, while the VA also includes the part consumed by motors and transformers; that is why the device has 6000 W and 6600 VA.
  • Grid-to-load bypass: The path through which the current from the grid passes directly through the inverter to the house; the value of 40 A shows how much consumption can pass along this route.

Technical details

Specifications confirmed from the manufacturer's datasheet

Deye SUN-6K-SG05LP1-EU-AM2-P is a single-phase hybrid inverter of 6 kW from the SG05LP1-EU-AM2-P generation, with generous photovoltaic oversizing. It supports 12000 W of connected PV power and 9600 W of maximum PV input power, on 2 MPPT trackers with one string each, with 18+18 A maximum operating current and 27+27 A short-circuit current. The maximum PV voltage is 500 V, the start-up from 125 V, the MPPT range 150-425 V, the nominal PV voltage 370 V.

On the AC side it delivers 6000 W active rated and 6600 VA maximum apparent power, with 27.3/26.1 A rated current and 30/28.7 A maximum current, at 220/230 V (0.85-1.1 Un), 50/45-55 Hz or 60/55-65 Hz, L+N+PE connection. The direct grid-to-load pass-through supports 40 A, and off-grid it delivers twice the rated power for 10 s. The maximum efficiency is 97.6%, the European one 96.5%, the MPPT efficiency above 99%.

The battery (lead-acid or lithium) works in 40-60 V, with 135 A maximum charge and discharge current and self-adaptation to the BMS.
