Description

The inverter is the brain of a solar installation: it takes the direct current produced by the panels, converts it into the 230 V alternating current that the sockets in the house have and decides at every moment where the energy goes - to the loads, to the battery or to the grid. This model is hybrid, that is it works at the same time with the panels, with the battery and with the grid, and if the grid fails, it switches to the battery and keeps the house supplied. The enclosure is sealed against dust and splashes, so it can also be mounted on an outside wall.

The 3600 rated W mean that it can simultaneously supply loads totalling 3,6 kW - fridge, lighting, television, computers, a washing machine - and the same power remains available on the backup output as well, when there is no more grid. On the solar side, modules totalling up to 4680 W can be connected, that is more power can be installed in panels than the inverter has, precisely in order to capture more of the mornings, the afternoons and the cloudy days. The battery charges and discharges at a maximum of 90 A, that is roughly about 4,3 kW on a 48 V battery. The maximum efficiency is 97,60%, so the conversion losses are small, and when starting some motors (pump, fridge compressor) it can deliver double the rated power for 10 seconds. It has no fan, it cools naturally and stays below 30 dB, and with 20,5 kg and 330x580x232 mm it is fixed on a solid wall.

PV: 4680 W max, 2 independent MPPT with one string each, 13+13 A input current (Isc max 17+17 A), Vmax 500 V, start-up 125 V, MPPT window 150-425 V (300-425 V at full load), rated PV voltage 370 V. AC: 3600 W rated including on the UPS output, 3690 W peak, 18/17,2 A maximum current, 220/230 Vac, 50/60 Hz, L/N/PE, grid-load bypass 35 A, THD below 3%, European efficiency 96,50%, MPPT efficiency 99,90%. Lead-acid or lithium battery, 40-60 V, 90 A charging and discharging, automatic adaptation to the BMS via RS485/CAN and external temperature sensor. IP65 enclosure, 330x580x232 mm, 20,5 kg. Grid certifications: VDE-AR-N 4105, EN 50549-1, CEI 0-21, G98/G99, C10-11, UNE 217002, IEC 61727/62116; safety IEC/EN 62109-1/-2.

Who it suits

Suitable for a house with small to medium consumption, with a photovoltaic field of up to about 4,7 kWp and a 48 V battery, that wants self-consumption during the day plus reserve for the important circuits during a power cut.

Terms explained

  • Hybrid inverter: A device that links the panels, the battery and the grid in the same system, and can also work without the grid, unlike an ordinary inverter that stops during a power cut.
  • MPPT: The circuit that constantly searches for the point where the panels deliver the highest power; two separate MPPTs allow the panels to be mounted on two roof slopes with different orientations.
  • UPS / backup output: A separate output to which the important loads are connected; they stay supplied from the battery and from the panels when the grid is interrupted.

Technical details

Specifications confirmed from the manufacturer's datasheet

Deye SUN-3.6K-SG03LP1-EU is a single-phase 3,6 kW hybrid inverter of the SG03LP1 series, intended for residential systems with low-voltage batteries. The photovoltaic side accepts a maximum of 4680 W of DC power on 2 independent MPPT trackers, with one string each and an input current of 13+13 A (Isc max 17+17 A). The maximum PV voltage is 500 V, start-up is from 125 V, the useful MPPT window is 150-425 V (300-425 V at full load), and the rated PV voltage is 370 V.

On the alternating current side it delivers 3600 W rated, including in UPS/backup mode, with a peak of 3690 W and 18/17,2 A maximum current, at 220/230 Vac, 50/60 Hz, L/N/PE. The direct grid-load pass-through withstands 35 A, and off-grid it supplies double the rated power for 10 s. The maximum efficiency is 97,60%, the European one 96,50%, and the MPPT efficiency reaches 99,90%; THD below 3%.

The battery can be lead-acid or lithium, in the 40-60 V range, with 90 A maximum charging and discharging current, a self-adaptive strategy to the BMS via RS485/CAN and an external temperature sensor. The IP65 enclosure of 330x580x232 mm weighs 20,5 kg and uses natural cooling (<30 dB). Grid certifications: VDE-AR-N 4105, EN 50549-1, CEI 0-21, G98/G99, C10-11, UNE 217002, IEC 61727/62116; safety IEC/EN 62109-1/-2.
